Frank Zappa - Hot Rats [1969]

exactly one year ago today that I write the first post the blog, thereby opening with The Devil Shout, and since that day I wrote about a lot of artists, better or worse but all excellent, but the anniversary is today's article a little more special and try to a musician who I consider superior to all others. If we were arguing about who is or has been the greatest composer of modern music - ie excluding classical composers and others - would have to assess many factors: innovation, quality music, wit, and so on.

often said that the best composer of the last century was Paul McCartney for the incredible work they did in the Beatles, all a marvel of ingenuity and inventiveness, pure modernism, but I think not, I think the greatest of all, the more merit is in innovation, is Frank Zappa. For that reason and because Steve Vai, Terry Bozzio, Vinnie Colaiuta and other great world-class musicians today who have worked for him - yes, Steve Vai Zappa worked for - his own son Dweezil Zappa has also great and career by the same Frank Zappa said, also Alice Cooper, Beatles, Rolling Stones, Jefferson Airplane, David Bowie and company have been incredibly musically influenced by him, and of course all modern groups of rock / metal progressed to the point that possibly any artist you like you have been directly or indirectly influenced by Frank Zappa.

Yes, this freak is my idol. Now everything fits you right?

And most of you, mere mortals, if you have not been lucky in that I grilled otherwise listen to what you might say " Who is Frank Zappa? " and it is logical because in Spain is famous even today, but there was a time when it was itself, in which the blast of everything he was doing for us came yankeelandia yet strong enough, and this guy revolutionized music but just today there are people who know this, but I made myself a blog, right? Well let the mess, but you only talk about the early days of his career, because Zappa is a whopping more than seventy albums on the market and I needed a blog to comment even a fourth of his career.

Zappa started in music at an early age with his group The Mothers of Invention, and its influences then we could mention Edgard Varèse, a French classical composer, avant-garde to the core. The music of the Mothers could be defined, other than as indefinable as a classic progressive rock with jazz and avant-garde experimentation through a tube, put it in some way. It's unlike anything you've ever heard, I'm virtually certain.

After a series of albums published in The Mothers - as Freak Out! or 're only in it for the money , both excellent and very rare, highly recommended - the band disbanded for being an excellent machine for losing money and Frank embarked on a project to record the disc could say that begins his career as a solo artist, Hot Rats, which is what I have chosen for today and certainly horrors cost me decide, and from there is where he began to get out of the provisions of the music that had been doing to experience more and more bizarre groups configured, so we can say that Hot Rats is the first point of inflection his career.

Professionalism. Frank spent hours in the studio working on his music.

What kind of music you find on the disk? And I do not know, spent years listening to Zappa and I have no fucking idea, but in his day, when I heard it was absolutely brilliant as he had heard in my life. It has a lot of jazz on some issues, in others it seems incidental music soundtrack, the strangely Willie the Pimp - Captain Beefheart where he works singing - is pure blues rock of Zappa with a violin in there ... in short, a good musical Macedonian where there is neither a note nor a sound, not a burp out of place. It's perfect, everything is absolutely calculated, measured at the micron, tied up and securely fastened.

You listen to him, listen very seriously because this is one of those records that must be heard before he died, one of those records that must be heard to understand the music, and Zappa is one of those artists who change the world, once inside you never go back out and you are changed forever aportándote a number of virtues and values \u200b\u200bso incredible that, despite the redundancy, I do not believe. From my point of view, and of course discounting classical musicians, I think Frank Zappa is the greatest artist in the history of modern music.

And finally, thanks for putting up with for an entire year, I hope - with your help - are many more. A hug.
